A Taste of Huế in the Heart of the Forest
Authentic central Vietnamese cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, and the gentle sounds of traditional music — all beneath the canopy of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Where Two Worlds Meet
Our kitchen draws its soul from Huế, the ancient imperial capital of Vietnam — a city celebrated for its refined, intensely flavored cuisine. Fragrant broths simmered for hours, hand-rolled rice paper, fresh herbs, and the subtle heat of central Vietnamese spice find their home here, surrounded by old-growth forest and the quiet of Trout Lake. It is an unexpected pairing, and a deeply memorable one.
The Bar
Handcrafted Cocktails
Our bar program takes its cues from the forest and the flavors of Vietnam — lemongrass-infused spirits, pandan syrups, tamarind bitters, and locally foraged botanicals. Each cocktail is built to complement the food and the setting.
Trout Lake Mule
House-infused lemongrass vodka, ginger beer, lime, and a float of chili oil
Forest & Smoke
Mezcal, pandan syrup, fresh lime, activated charcoal salt rim
Huế Sour
Bourbon, tamarind shrub, egg white, Angostura bitters
Evergreen Negroni
Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, pine needle tincture
Live Music
Traditional Vietnamese Instrumental Evenings
On select Friday and Saturday evenings, the dining room fills with the sound of traditional Vietnamese instruments — the delicate plucking of the đàn tranh zither, the resonant tones of the đàn bầu monochord, and the gentle rhythm of percussion. These intimate performances are included with dinner and require no reservation beyond your table.
Performance schedule subject to seasonal availability. Check with the lodge for current dates.
